Joker, C’era una volta a Hollywood, The Irishman e 1917. La partita degli Oscar 2020 passa da questi quattro titoli. Almeno stando alle nomination appena annunciate dagli attori Issa Rae e John Cho. Il Leone d’Oro di Venezia 2019 raccoglie 11 nomination (film, regia, attore, per ricordare le nomination più pesanti). L’ultimo film di Tarantino segna 10 (anche qui film, regia, attore protagonista e non). Mentre il ritorno di Martin Scorsese (via Netflix) non è da meno con dieci nomination tra cui film regia e nomination per due dei tre attori protagonisti (Joe Pesci e Al Pacino ma non Robert De Niro).
Doppia cifra sempre a 10 per il 1917 di Sam Mendes che però tiene vuote le caselline degli attori per un film molto più legato alla performance stilistica, modello Dunkirk, che a quella recitativa. Notevole anche l’exploit di Parasite, l’ultima Palma d’Oro di Cannes che ha letteralmente sconvolto Hollywood tanto che nel frattempo è già diventato una miniserie tv per HBO. Il film coreano di Bong Joon Ho svetta nel quintetto per il Miglior Film Straniero (niente Bellocchio e Traditore si sapeva già) dove vincerà al 99,9% ma raccoglie soprattutto altre sei nomination tra cui regia, film, sceneggiatura originale e production design dove segnerà sicuramente due nel taccuino delle vittorie.
Tante le belle facce da star che saranno presenti sul red carpet tra nemmeno un mese. Perché Leonardo DiCaprio e Brad Pitt, miglior attore protagonista e non protagonista per C’era una volta a Hollywood, saranno della partita, come del resto l’acclamato Joaquin Phoenix per il suo Joker. Sorpresa comunque nel quintetto degli attori con Antonio Banderas (per il Dolor y gloria di Almodovar, presente anche nel quintetto dei film stranieri) e Jonathan Pryce (The new pope) che andranno a fare compagnia all’altrettanto straordinario Adam Driver per Marriage story. Tra le attrici quintetto non proprio memorabile, nei ruoli interpretati, ma di un glamour da fare spavento: Charlize Theron per Bombshell; Scarlett Johansson per Marriage Story; Saoirse Ronan per Little Women; Renée Zellweger per Judy, e l’attrice afroamericana Cynthia Erivo per “Harriet”.
Fa davvero piacere il ritorno di Tom Hanks tra gli attori non protagonisti (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood) che se la vedrà con Anthony Hopkins (il Ratzinger di The two popes) e i già citati mostri sacri Pacino, Pesci e Pitt. Piacevolissimo anche il ritorno tra le attrici non protagoniste di Kathy Bates per il Richard Jewell di Clint Eastwood che dovrà gareggiare con la Johannson doppia (qui per JoJo Rabbit, mentre ha anche la nomination tra le colleghe protagoniste per Marriage Story), la straordinaria Laura Dern di Marriage Story, la splendida Margot Robbie di Bombshell e Florence Pugh in Little Women”.
Tante i singoli scontri nelle diverse categorie. La più incredibile sarà però quella tra i nominati per la miglior regia. Lo Scorsese di The Irishman non lo mandi giù così come ridere. Il Tarantino di C’era una volta ad Hollywood può mettere la freccia per il suo primo Oscar da regista. Mentre meriterebbe tanto, anche solo per il coraggio il Todd Phillips di Joker e il Mendes per 1917. Senza dimenticare l’outsider Bong che con il suo Parasite sarà la scheggia impazzita della 92esima notte degli oscar che si terrà al Dolby Theatre di Hollywood il 9 febbraio prossimo, circa un mese prima rispetto agli anni passati. Ah, dimenticavamo: c’è parecchia Netflix anche quest’anno tra le nomination…
